Great post by @norootcause with a succinct description of the concept of Safety II. I only read Hollnagel&#39;s book last year after having known about it for probably a decade. And I can absolutely second Lorin&#39;s point about it being very well written and approachable and still very worth checking out. 10 months into this Liquid Glass wild ride and I still get these kind of artifacts daily that cover part of the UI I&#39;m actually interacting with. This is Safari but I most often get it in the mail and music app. Maybe someone can divert some of that AI money to fund building a UI that doesn&#39;t behave like the operating system has an existential crisis 12 times a day

running my own FreeBSD based home router has been one of the best choices in the last 10 years. Is it overkill? yes Have I completely overdone it by running chef on there and have a whole pull request based deployment flow for config? also yes Is it still one of the few things that keep me excited about technology? an ecstatic third yes

2016: every line of code is immediately tech debt, the most important design paradigm is simplicity, I maintain a curated personal blog about minimalism 2026: haha I just have my stochastic labubu generate tons of code all the time, I don&#39;t even look at it. More is more. I regularly have nervous breakdowns about what it all means on all social media platforms
