I am kinda sick of seeing this attitude of being hostile towards "computer nerds", particularly in the #Linux space in recent years. Anytime something isn't trivially easy to resolve or requires a little bit of reading a manual or doesn't work as expected (i.e. as it does on windows) there is whining about how we hate "normal people" (garbage term btw) and are just a bunch of antisocial losers. Instead of behaving shitty, you could make an effort to actually learn th...

This one was fun to perform. I feel like I am picking up an entirely new skill set in this game, that I didn't even realize was there all this time haha. #Dishonored #gaming

It's been 4 years since the last time, but I've been replaying A Hat in Time! It helped me through a rough patch back then, and I was getting a LOT of mileage out of the photo mode haha. This playthrough isn't any different really, there is just so much cool stuff to take pictures of! #AHatInTime #VirtualPhotography #gaming

Another week, another girlfriend Dark Souls update: After having a bit of a rough time with the crystal cave, we decided to do the DLC before taking on Sif, to maximize emotional damage for that particular fight. What I did not expect was for her to first try both Artorias AND fucking Kalameet, usually one of the toughest bosses in the game. It took ten minutes of careful tortoising behind the most ridiculous shield in the game, a lot of patience, and a REALLY close call, but the dragon finall...

So yesterday she beat the game. It was mostly just finishing up some leftover bosses, the hardest of which was Sif. Not because she died a lot though. She knew from the start, that she would have to kill Sif at some point and was not looking forward to it at all, because she loves dogs a LOT. She avoided that fight for as long as possible. After going through the Artorias DLC and rescuing a young wolf from the Abyss, seeing Sif recognize her, yet still fight her made what was about to come wei...

So I got into Vanquish recently. It is I think one of the strangest blends of genres I've seen. On one hand it's an early 2010s shooter with cover mechanics, regenerating health and military blah blah dialogue, on the other ... you can just zoom around and shoot in slow motion and generally feels like a kind of spiritual predecessor to Metal Gear Rising. It's a game that I would love to see revisited in the modern day, mostly to strip the weird cover mechanic out and make...

I am so annoyed, not a single day goes by on fedi anymore, that I don't end up having to block some AI shill. It's getting fucking tiring.

So Raphael Colantonio and some other Arkane devs have been playing through Dishonored and just chatting about the game and its development, and it was enough to give me an itch for the game again haha. I think my goal for this playthrough is to be silly and creative with killing guards. We'll see how it goes. I doubt I'll get anywhere near as crazy as StealthGamerBR but I'll try to have some fun haha. #Dishonored #gaming

Now that I've gotten my first few magic abilities, new murder opportunities are opening up haha. Still gotta practise my slide kick some more, this took me about an hour to get right. #Dishonored #gaming

So a funny thing I learned about this cutscene today: When Havelock shoots his pistol, the bottles he aims at do actually explode, even when they are not on camera! However, you can move them before the cutscene starts and they will still break haha. I tried using that to blow up a whale oil barrel, but unfortunately that didn't work out, the springrazor traps don't trigger in cutscenes it would seem. Damn those developers and their failsafes :cat_sip:. #Dishonored #gaming

So I've been playing a lot of games in Proton outside of steam and wrote my own script to make launching them easier. It does the bare minimum of launching both the Steam Linux Runtime and ProtonGE, but it does so in one easily invokable command. Makes it very uncomplicated to make desktop shortcuts for. All games use the same proton prefix (which resides in ~/.launch_proton) One thing I haven't figured out yet is how to pass commandline arguments to the windows app, but maybe i...
