Another week, another girlfriend Dark Souls update:
After having a bit of a rough time with the crystal cave, we decided to do the DLC before taking on Sif, to maximize emotional damage for that particular fight.
What I did not expect was for her to first try both Artorias AND fucking Kalameet, usually one of the toughest bosses in the game. It took ten minutes of careful tortoising behind the most ridiculous shield in the game, a lot of patience, and a REALLY close call, but the dragon finally fell. It was a blast to watch it happen.
We are probably gonna finish the game today, there is pretty much only a couple bosses left. It has been quite a journey watching her grow from stumbling around with a basic long sword to a badass boar knight. I'm a little sad it's gonna be over soon. To me the first Dark Souls is special, and you can only ever have one first time with it, but I am glad I was around for hers haha.

I am also really glad the boar helmet dropped when she killed the first one you encounter at Undead Burg (it only has a 20% chance to drop). In our TTRPG campaign we have a character called "Her Majesty", who is a baby boar with the magical ability to summon phantoms to protect her. One of the phantoms she summoned was Sir Gael, a knight from the past whose sworn duty was to protect Her Majesty, who he was led to believe was a pig.
The party befriended the boar and learned how to communicate with her through her knight and has become a dear pet to my girlfriend's character. When she came to visit I gifted her a small boar plushy, which she has fallen in love with immediately and cuddles with every day since. :cat_heart:
