I really hate this period of social networks. ๐Ÿ˜ž Twitter is pay-for-reach and Nazi bar Mastodon reach is marginal There's no tech on bluesky Threads is an engagement shit show (like all Meta products) Reddit is ok for niche things that are not people centric (3D printing)

@matt Ironically that would be the kind of thing a LLM would be good at.

#TFW you unit test a LLM and forget to put the prompt so the LLM spews 200 words "how to get the best of sex: Sex is a lot like making a sandwich" sourced from Quora (!!).

Prepping for my talk tomorrow at AI Tinkerer Ottawa, July 30th! Doing a live demo is hard. Imagine using 3 laptops to do your demo. ๐Ÿค“ Still time to register at https://lu.ma/tp277zom

@rsc Thanks Russ for all your wisdom and structuring the project for success. So frequently, you didn't settle for "good enough" and while it ruffled some feathers to take more time to be deliberate, it was the right call and enabled the project to not accumulate technical debt and optimize for the long term. I hope you enjoy your agent project!

@Bre77 OMG Thank you so much for this. This is absolutely amazing! The setup was seamless. My only snag was that I had to enable "my:" since I don't use "default_config:". This was clearly called out in the documentation page. Thank you so much for making this clear, otherwise I would have scratched my head.

@dgar Shouldn't 1 come first? Does "Top" implies decreasing order?

@never_released That's how ChromeOS CI always worked. Chrome does concurrent checks based on current Tip of Tree.

@slightlyoff In my toy project, I switched to sending unmodified app HTML. For server-side injection, I do an additional write() to the tcp pipe adding a block "<script>let preloadedata = {{...}};<script>". Then the web app can check if preloaded data is there or not and use it to save a round trip. I don't understand why this is not the state of the art? Everything else sounds unnecessarily complex.

@slightlyoff I recently listened to a talk about Remix and it sounded awfully complicated and fragile. I can't imagine making it fast.

@mcc have you tried Fuchsia? :) More seriously, video conference worked just fine on Fuchsia when used in desktop mode before the project got canned. :(

Microsoft Photodraw 2000 was better than canva.com.

@robpike I settled on a Nexus S in a drawer... I use security keys instead whenever I can.

@phs By "Linux", do you mean to rule out ChromeOS?

@phs I've been using Ubuntu on Lenovo (starting with x201 up to x1) for 10+ years on linux and eventually switched to HP x360 for coding. I code in Go. It runs Debian 12 in a VM and it's very fast. The laptop sleeps correctly. All hardware works. External monitors, etc, no fiddling. The drawbacks are: - Nested virtualization is slow. - FUSE doesn't work, so I expand my AppImage. I'm mostly using it in text-only mode anyway. I understand why you'd rule ou...

@djmitche Sorry to hear. I love "Why is that?" comments. I don't particularly like "What is it?" comments when it's redundant.
