  Please consider that some computer touchers and users just want something that broadly works without too much hassle and uses something made by assholes, sometimes evil ones, not because they agree with the assholes, but as a compromise because the other option(s) would completely fuck up or complicate their daily usage and/or workflow, and folks like me just don't have the fucking energy for the tech holy wars (ie, wayland vs x11, not something like DHH being a straight up fascist) and tryi...

  If you ever feel like a no good fuck up, please note that this is the third motherboard screw I’ve found installed crooked on a laptop by one of the largest PC OEMs worldwide (Dell), and this machine has never seen service, so you can assume that they were installed crooked from the factory. Please contemplate, and then re-calibrate your feelings accordingly. Be kind to yourself.

  Did some light testing of the new (to me) drive late last night. Ran a cleaning tape successfully, so I tossed in an LTO 4 tape I wasn’t afraid to lose, and threw together a backup job to use up most of the tape.   The thing that's fucking with me today is the childhood memory of a meltdown at home that was escalated to the point where my dad cut the cable on my favourite keyboard and mouse in front of me. I don't remember much around that, but neither side did a great job of de-escalating, and I ended up being banned from all but the simplest of electronics for a year from that point. Back then, a fate worse than grounding. They didn't fucking budge on that, either.
