On the topic of the PlayStation Portable (PSP), back in summer 2024, I got a steal of a deal on a lot of PSPs in various states. I used a Pandora battery and Magic memory stick to repair the software issues with a few consoles, but the bulk of them booted and seemed to work fine, though the buttons were likely dirty as some of them intermittently worked. Once I got a magnet mat to help with screw management, I took apart each one, including the ones I already had, and cleaned them as best I could, and re-spread excess grease across the UMD drive rails. Once I was putting the consoles back together with the best parts from the lot, I ended up swapping out the buttons and trim between the red and black PSP 2000s, as well as the black and white PSP 2000s. I'm still pretty happy with the result, despite how simple the change was. I had a GameBoy/Color growing up, but when I got a PSP, I was basically hyperfixated on them until after the Vita came out. I still have a lot of love for the system. I should dig them back out and finish repairing/refurbishing the rest.
