I briefly went to Canada this evening and the whole time I was driving around Windsor I kept thinking people were judging me for having Michigan plates. When I pulled up to the US border station, there was a gigantic pickup in the next lane with a tailgate decal that was the US flag, along with a man in silhouette kneeling next to a cross, supoorted by a crutch or possibly a rifle? Truly, America contains multitudes. #detroit

When I went to search for all the Canadian movies on Criterion, there was an icon in the corner giving me the option to show USA or CA results. Choosing CA got me twenty fewer movies, which seems unfair. I assume I&#39;m being offered this option because my IP address falls in some kind of nebulous Border Zone. Wouldn&#39;t be the first time.

In THE APARTMENT (1960), Jack Lemmon pays $85 for a 1-bedroom in Manhattan&#39;s West Sixties, near Central Park. In 2026 dollars, that&#39;s about $958 a month. These days I don&#39;t think you can get a broom closet in Manhattan for less than a thousand.

Apparently young guys nowadays are unironically addressing other guys whose names they don&#39;t know as &quot;brother.&quot; Which is weird to me because when I was young those guys were calling everyone &quot;bro,&quot; and the general semantic trend over the last 20 years has been towards abbreviating words, not speaking them in full. Also they&#39;re calling me &quot;brother&quot; despite my aging soft twink presentation. #transmasc
