Bit of a sneak peek showing the new turn based setup I've been working on, will be doing a massive amount of work once I'm back after RL family stuff tomorrow.

Oh random rant, I was enjoying watching Mairimashita! Iruma-kun overall so far and then halfway through I realised they turned my high school demon drama into some cringe idol anime arc for the season. That was extremely annoying and broke the pacing for me.

Oh thank fuck, made chicken stew and obliterated it, now I'm shamelessly pigging out on orange chocolate lol, going to collapse asleep.

Yayyy! Now I'm properly rested again, back to regularly scheduled sperging!

Without too many details being given away I foresee having to go to a lot of places in the middle of nowhere in my life thanks to my family lol. This is why I've been looking at van conversions. I want to see what kind of cheapo ghetto versions are available so I have some proper consistency going on and be comfortable. You realise what your family is like and yes they're family and everything but you just don't trust them to be organised about anything. Gimme a Starli...

Okay, this is surprising because I haven't looked at this sort of thing in decades but it explains why van conversions are a thing. As it turns out it's dead easy to deal with all of this stuff on the cheap if you want to. Hmmmm ideas :P but that's for a bit later in life.

The more I work out the maths and the code for turn based strategy the more questions I have about how CA keep managing to fuck up something so basic.

It's so fucking funny seeing British people and westerners generally talk about which country to move to and it's just them cycling through New Zealand, Australia, Canada etc. as options. You immediately know they're lefties too because they don't regard America as an option because muh mass shootings. They don't understand that rural America is insanely low crime, they only want to live in the shithole cities. I'm so fucking grateful for that tho...

Distance calculations I think next for my turn based game movement, probably need to think about visualising a lot more too.

Definitely back to regular sperging now so that's good. Just to make me even more paranoid in the UK I'm seeing rumours that the British police do indeed like to destroy peoples' devices when they hold them for 'evidence'. Yep, not letting that happen to my code after all this time. Oh and it looks like remarkably Starmer is backing down and backing Andy Burnham if he wins lol oh this is going to be good.

Gonna sperg out, gonna sperg out :D

The more I learn game dev especially with how much experience I'm getting now the more questions I have about the AAA workflow. I would love to get some kind of industry insider leaking me shit so I know what's going on.

Oh this is big, Restore Britain have in fact fielded their candidate for the by election, Reform activists are going to be so fucking angry lol. Apparently the date will be June 18th? A lot can happen in that time this is going to be very interesting.

Balancing these projects is going to be tricky but it is way more interesting than just smashing my head against a wall when I'm lost. Just need to be careful that I don't feed my grand strategy addiction too much, I love capturing settlements and grinding turns lol.

Beginning to think with some of the lame pacing issues have that letting the anime episodes run about halfway is usually a good idea. By then they've established the plot properly and I can binge watch it without getting interruptions in the story then continue.

Ahhhhhh after a couple of days it feels like things are going to calm down a ton. Can start sperging properly on all the bugs I've got to fixed to make all the new code work cleanly.

Trying so hard not to sperg about my country now but the clowning is just too fucking much. Apparently they're limiting the speed of a new trainline which was specifically designed to cut down on travel time. Simply existing in this country is utterly rage inducing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMYrRfl90RQ Legal mindset doing a great summary of what's going on with TheQuartering, what the fuck LOL. Now I understand why people have gotten mad at him. Looks like he's been getting up to all sorts of weird spergy behaviour in the background that I didn't notice. Oh well I don't really watch any of these people anymore anyway.

Going very easy on myself with the cooking now so that I can settle into a proper dev sperg session once I've gotten RL stuff out of the way this week and I know the deep fryer works.

I'm so going to do fried chicken once I learn how to clean the fryer properly lol should be fine, apparently I need a funnel which makes sense so you just put it in a bag and then in the bin.

Playing around with UE5's UI again, I could do all sorts with this, going to focus on path visualisation and turn management for now. I was right to clone the project because it's not necessary going to be pure RPG mechanics for a grand strategy.

I've got some major theories about how CA did their turn management after studying their games for so long. I'm working out the variable setup and taking a brave pill to try and implement it all. I suspect a heavy amount of for loops and basic variable checks are involved. Could well be something as simple as them cycling through a 'faction' array of some kind per turn and that's how they calculate everything. Their AI isn't even as complicated a...

If I can get this turn based management system working I'll be able to break my addiction to broken games just like with Fallout New Vegas lol.

Oh it looks like Starmer is going down now, they're all publicly denouncing him, I might celebrate.

Ooooo I hope they replace him with Wes Streeting, that would be delicious. Him and Andy Burnham have been people the labour activists are propping up and touting quite a bit, looks like something will happen tomorrow.

I should have done this ages ago, this is fucking easy but I guess you need to learn the engine properly first. The next thing is going to have the player unit distance calculated.

Ooooo! Oooo! Bingo! Got the maths in my head now I can spawn in an empty to deal with the click logic like with the click ring and have it do a distance calculation between that and the selected unit. Have that count down the travel distance left and we're good. I can put in some boolean checks to prevent any unwanted behaviour. A click for a turn based game should be a deciding move and you shouldn't be able to course correct so I'm fine with that. Yeah, I understand...

The biggest challenge I think is creating the loop for getting through the AI movement but I did the autism on Total War games enough that I know what's going on now.

Yep I was right, there are quite a few custom variables I need to write up for the turn based behaviour alone it's a good thing I made the switch to a new project. The other RPG project can be maybe my default one and then I clone it for very specific types of games.

Oh I'm sperging out so fucking hard.
