Part of me is a little tempted to switch to using plain Debian for my server instead of the GUI frontend now that I'm more used to web stuff. But that also requires either a second computer to copy everything to (which I do technically have, but it'd be annoying), or restarting and hoping for the best. That wouldn't be too bad for most of this, but my fediverse stuff definitely would be. Might just start looking into ways to do it sigh

So, the rabbit I'm housing is shedding, and I decided "Hey. I can spin yarn." Immediately I said "Well you can tell he wasn't bred for his fur"

I keep forgetting that art is corrosive to the human soul, and you must get it out. "How did I manage to get the laundry done in one day?" I say after spending several days writing things.

Hmm, I should check how much space X4 uses...

Managed to absolutely murder.my KDE install, and after about an hour of troubleshooting the fix is gonna be "I'm reinstalling this shit"

I thinknit may be time to take a bit of a break from writing the transfem-getting-abused story to write some taboo fluff/smut.

Kinda hoping KDE being slow is just my computer running at 100% installing some stuff :D

As someone who's used both Arch, and Gentoo, people really do talk about Arch like it's Gentoo. This lead me to thinking (falsely) that it'd be like Arch, but longer install times. Arch has never broken my entire DE on an update before :D Granted, this is because I'm using GNOME with OpenRC, and Some Shit happened with this update, but still. I've been installing KDE since this morning, so... we'll see how that goes. Laptop's ~8 years old, so it may run well, it...

Know what? I'm kinda tired of fighting GNOME on using OpenRC. I'm switching to KDE I don't fucking care anymore.

Time to see if I can figure out the rss feed issue my site's been having. Won't let me subscribe to it on TTRSS
-
Post #3947877
Just thought to myself "Should I just do my postroll through TTRSS or should I commit to pasting things into a plaintext file to convert to HTML" and let's be honest with myself. As much as I will dislike having to remember to do it, I will probably put it in a plaintext file.

Whelp. Looked into #BSD enough. Think it's time to just download it and put it on my T430 to see if I'll like it. Wish me luck #FreeBSD

So I've kind of switched how I publish to my #blog, and it's... So much easier now. Before I would build the site, ssh into the server, had a symlink from a folder in my home folder to the folder for the blog, go into that, then scp from the local folder to the server's folder, then realize I forgot to build and do it all over again Now I can just... Use a bookmarked sftp connection and copy them over that way. Makes me way more likely to actually look at stuff on a local copy :D

I have purchased calipers. I must now measure every object in my house that will fit in them. It's the law.

I kind of want to get more microformats working on my blog, specifically the h-feed. I will be keeping RSS going, I just want options, plus it sounds fun. If I do I might make a skeleton theme and throw it somewhere.

I know this was a joke on the Cracked podcast a decade ago, but I might fuck around and start calling computers Pornographones to remind us of their true purpose

So I've never eaten "normal" potato salad. The kind where you cube potatoes, boil them, then mix them with mayonnaise and other stuff. Usually I use potato flakes. My first attempt at making a dish I've never eaten also involved me not actually looking at a recipe for said dish. I'd say it came out alright, tbh. I did bake the potatoes instead of boiling them, which was both quicker and tastier than I'd imagine boiled potatoes to be in this context

Current conundrum: I'm working on the tags for the game review site, and I've got a tag for male/female/transfem/transmasc protag, and I'm adding one for non-white protags. I'm debating changing the male/female to cis man/cis woman tags, and adding a tag for white protags. The dilemma comes in because adding them feels... Gross in a particular way, but not adding them feels like I'm treating cis and white as defaults in a way that I don't particularly care for. I'll...

@OopsAllTrash@mastodon.social Y'know, when I saw "Clown" and "Lonely" I was suspicious that this was gonna be full of Sims jokes. Then the toilet caught fire. Added to my feed reader, looks great so far!

Y'know, I'm a little amused at how often the windows instructions for a thing are "Download and install a program for this thing" and then you look up the Linux instructions and it's just "Yeah you probably have something that also does this" SFTP in this case. You have to download an SFTP client on Windows, where the two major file managers in Linux are also SFTP clients.

I keep learning the same lesson over and over again in different ways, and that lesson is "Maybe The Everything App isn't the best of ideas" I'm not letting to of emacs, but with Nextcloud currently out I'm realizing how bad of an idea it was to run this many things through one service. Whoops.

Okay, enough server stuff, I'm taking y'all on a #cooking adventure. I almost tagged cooming there, which would have attracted a very different audience. EITHER WAY, STEP 1: Egg Boiling Half dozen in a pot, fill pot with water, put pot on stove, turn burner on. Once it's boiling turn it off and let it sit until the rest of this shit's ready. This and the mayonnaise are the only non-vegan parts, but the boiled eggs can be skipped, and the mayo can be made with a half cup soy m...
