RE: https://humanwords.party/@castanetkamloops/117038084284852928 Funny how these articles continue to miss all the positions that were eliminated, leaving teachers and students with poorer services. Also, if the shortfall was really $2, they could've just asked. I could scrounge around my couch cushions for that. 🤣

RE: https://humanwords.party/@castanetkamloops/117014255395734666 Even if people were being forced to pay for every dime of a rescue operation when they were ordered to leave, I have a tough time accepting that the risk to other's lives is acceptable. I completely understand that it's difficult to leave, but things don't work very well when people think they know better and are above everyone else. It's one of those people who likely damaged their water system because they felt...

@auscandoc@universeodon.com Those who uncritically pass along disinformation as news kind of needs to be shut down. As the meme goes, if one person says it's raining out and another says it's sunny, it's not the job of a journalist to publish each statement, it's their job to look out the window and tell us what the truth is.

@evelyn@masto.evelynyap.com Sounds productive! I went for a 37km ride this morning, and then afterward realized there was a 40km ride event in my Garmin stuff this weekend. I don't really care about the challenges all that much, but it can be fun just to complete them for the made-up points, challenge myself, etc. Maybe I'll have the legs to do 40km tomorrow. Hope your tube holds up for a good long while now!

RE: https://mastodon.online/@cfjc_today/116981696025818379 Oh good god, the hits keep coming - not just for what these fires that started in Boston Bar have rolled through already, but for everyone along Highway 8. What are they going to do to keep these fires not only from hitting this area, but continuing to Merritt? Or Logan Lake? This is the way the wind pushes. #wildfires #BC #Merritt

The other day I posted a picture of just the frame for this trike as I was starting to build it. This is the completed beast which I've been riding for a few days now. Super comfortable, 2 battery mounts (only one battery on this morning, but the idea is to be able to go a long ways or have the ability to do massive climbs without completely draining the charge), head and tail lights, 2 bottle holders, and a wireless charging phone mount (it was an option, I had to get it). The motor kit i...

Hi, who do I call to clean up the air? It's unsafe to be in for extended periods of time. Oh, we can't? Anyone know if anyone's putting together some kind of class action lawsuit to hold the governments of Canada, BC, the U.S. and oil companies responsible? Would a $500 trillion suit be enough?

Anyone else concerned or notice that the global timeline seems to be more and more non-human (ie: rss feed-type stuff)? I think it has it's place, but I see human generated content, being social, etc., going down, and way more of "the rest of the internet being dragged in". Somebody fired up an instance yesterday, added 1 account that posted nearly 1,000 times in it's first 24 hours. Do people really think anyone is wanting this? That admins want to manage this amount of unex...

@evelyn@masto.evelynyap.com I wasn't too familiar with Chaoyang aside from knowing they made tubes - they have a puncture resistant tube, btw, which I saw in my browsing presently. We see a ton of Schwalbe tires here on everything, and they seem to be known for good puncture resistance. (Some of their tires absolutely have heavy duty puncture resistance/protection) Based on what you're saying it's may be most cost effective to get a good tube at this point and if there's contin...

@evelyn@masto.evelynyap.com How puncture resistant are your tires? I would guess, unless you're quite unlucky, a good tire and a new tube would go a long way. Or maybe you've already got a great tire and it truly is all tube issues?

Summer colds need to be abolished. Hey, I know, instead of spending billions on pipelines that lead to human destruction, perhaps we could invest in further health science and care? Healthy people not profitable enough? (This of course is not just about colds... cancer, alzheimer's, etc. etc. would all be higher priorities in an actual "I'm the King and here are my priorities" list - I did CW this as whining, right? 😉 )

RE: https://humanwords.party/@infonewskamloops/116868682900627367 FFS we're falling so far down the dumb hole. We're in some pretty serious trouble, thanks in large part, in my opinion, to letting ourselves be so influenced by the idiocy further south. So glad we brought in a prime minister who's not able to stand up to them. I think when he puts his elbows up he sees a pipeline.

I was just reading a post that made me very pleased that we no longer have methane being pumped in to our house. No need for a carbon monoxide detector anywhere, never a chance of a gas leak. And while I think I'm lucky to be able to have transitioned our house to all-electric - I also am super annoyed that the option is being made readily available to anyone who wants to. Canada is failing big-time in the name of propping up polluters (the oil & gas industries). If anyone ever sugges...

Happy #EarthDay! While our family thinks a lot about climate change and find so many things going on so difficult to fight against, one of the things I'm happy to have done this past year is completely electrify our home, which suffers Canadian winters, where most rely on methane to heat their homes and/or their hot water. It was part of our "OK, we've moved in to this new (to us) place and we're making some changes we've been wanting to do for quite s...
