Every so often, I watch Franz Klammer&#39;s 1976 gold medal downhill run, because it&#39;s just so incredible to see a man absolutely falling down a mountain at the speed of light, held upright by a pair of flimsy skis. It&#39;s almost like seeing someone fall out of an airplane without a chute and do a neat little somersault at the end and land on their feet.

I had to fight so hard today not to buy an enormous stuffed dreidel with arms and legs and a cute face. It was chenille. I satisfied myself with amazingly soft new towels instead.

I have a suspicion. I think that the reason Venezuela got toppled was in part as a shaping operation against Iran. By taking it over (and not immediately handing it over to the legitimate government), it denies Iran access to all of the war materiel it has stashed in Venezuela, as well as a place for Khamenei and his toadies to run off to. @robbienorlyn People who&#39;ve studied the actual sociology of mixing pots, contact zones, and how cultures borrow from each other know that the answer is a definitive yes, at least as far as cultural appropriation is generally understood by the layperson.

@SteveThompson At a certain point, people with a conscience falling on the sword that was pointing at their superiors is just going to empty our institutions of much needed good people. I see no valor in this, when one of them would presumably replace their bum of a boss eventually.

Wow, Nader&#39;s impeachment articles are trash. Like, really, really ignorant of actual laws of warfare (no surprise there, really, people like to imagine whatever they like is against laws of war and Nader is no different) and the legal auspices under which our Venezuelan venture took place, which are pretty ironclad. The rest is tenous at very best. I actually laughed out loud multiple times while reading them. I&#39;m all for removing this guy, but come correct, FFS. Any idiot...
