I have a suspicion. I think that the reason Venezuela got toppled was in part as a shaping operation against Iran. By taking it over (and not immediately handing it over to the legitimate government), it denies Iran access to all of the war materiel it has stashed in Venezuela, as well as a place for Khamenei and his toadies to run off to. They're gonna be stuck with Russia. Speaking of, if Iran topples, Russia loses its biggest source of large attack drones and a huge part of its supply of ammunition, and it will have to lean harder on NK. In other news, all my Venezuelan former neighbors are over the moon right now.
