@brib@bribstodon.xyz @davidgerard@circumstances.run i honestly think, based on how the article is written, that Yegge experiences agent usage as a power fantasy of owning/commanding people. You can see it in the strange governance structures and hierarchies that abstract him as the leader of some pyramid structure, rather than a set of interconnected tools. The antropromorphising of the individual software instances is another big clue - he has deliberately structured it to feel as much like con...

Sorry, I had originally just boosted this because I like the idea of a dark sky app that uses proper astronomical data but I took a second look at the page and it has that LLM-generated feel to the UI. Can't explain it that well but it has The Stank. I apologise! RE: https://indieweb.social/ap/users/115948090307838315/statuses/117022764569677489

Has anyone else here watched The Substance? i was quite disappointed by it tbh - i really liked how it started but i felt a lot like it didn't trust me to get the point on my own. So much revisitation, so many things either told or so obviously shown you might as well be telling. Like "process that makes you hot and young but its excruciating and yucky" is a great metaphor for so many things about the U.S. obsession with aging and youth, but i felt like we missed out on so many...

did he chicken out or did he reframe his already-perpetrated war crimes as a furious crescendo to a damp ending idk i have noticed that the "taco" meme always seems to follow a period where the guy very much Did The Thing, but just threatened to do more Thing, and all of a sudden its "guys he never does what he says he'll do!" it was true for tariffs and deportations and ICE and Venezuela and now its true here could we possibly consider that being distracted by the spe...

icymi, local net person Cory Doctorow has decided to give up his unofficial role as the fediverse's Emotional Support Celebrity in bombastic style by coming to the defence of "open source" LLM's https://pluralistic.net/2026/02/19/now-we-are-six/ (not tagging him to avoid a pile on) Tante has a good write up about the strangeness of his argument here https://tante.cc/2026/02/20/acting-ethical-in-an-imperfect-world/ (again, don't want to pile on). I also wanted to add that...
