Fuck me, psychotherapy is so slow but it chips away at things like dripping water erodes the surface on which it lands. I'm undoing a lot of automatic behaviors I developed over my life until now. In order to do that, I had to first recognize what those behaviours are, but then also examine the moments in which they are triggered and figure out *why*. Sometimes it reveals yet another layer of instinctual belief that in turn must be deconstructed. (cont'd)

Some recent #SteamDeck tinkering: I take video game screenshots like I was a photojournalist, and the default management experience on the Deck is *bruuuuutal*. The cloud storage would be perfect for me to access the images on my phone, but getting them into the cloud is a horrible one-by-one process. And ultimately I want to get those files off the Deck, since they occupy a good chunk of space. Well happily there's the whole Linux desktop environment at my disposal! ...Sort of! 1/n

I kinda like the Google News app on Android, partly because it provides all available sources for each event. Plus, it lets me fine-tune the topics it covers—and what sources or topics I *don&#39;t* want it to provide. ...Well, up to a certain point, anyway. Like, I can block stories about Taylor Swift or figure skating or the province of Alberta. What I can&#39;t block: Murders. Shootings. Car crashes. Law enforcement. Sigh.

Once again I am messing around with the Mastodon API :A_BlobCat_Code: I intend to export my bookmarks, most importantly grabbing the full content and media of each bookmarked toot—because toots can expire or be deleted. I&#39;m only doing this for myself, so it doesn&#39;t have to be pretty! However, authenticated API calls have to be done through an app registration. I guess the hot new Masto client &quot;jsstaedtler_mucking_about_with_curl&quot; will show up in the server logs...

I have an obnoxious problem with crawlers eating bandwidth on my personal web site—not just the fact that crawlers consume so much bandwidth, but rather a behaviour that is absolutely next-level. I will keep pointing out that decentralization is not the cure for shittified social networks, it&#39;s actually the owners and operators being *normal people with no profit motive*. The Fediverse is useful to us because it&#39;s a co-op, not a business.
