So where is the DIY quadcopter #drone community hanging out? I assume in Kyiv, but where else? I ain't gonna afford an off the shelf one for a long but I'm pretty sure between parts at hand and my 3D printer I could mess around...

Hey #Animation I just spotted a headline about "Tokenjacking," in which "bad" actors are stealing people's AI tokens. As we all know, AI compute capacity is also useful for making cartoons to delight children. I think it's incumbent upon anyone who knows how to use #Blender that we form an organization dedicated to stealing people's AI tokens and repurposing them for making Cartoons, in which we also steal Intellectual Property like all the Disney characters....

Spent five bucks at the thrift last week for a bag of "#drone parts". I spotted a couple of antennas and some tiny motors, so snapped it up. Having just organized the parts, it appears to be most of the components of a single lightweight #quadcopter kit, but there is no manual and the SKUs on the bags don't connect to anything meaningful on Google. Seems to me, if I could find the paperwork of the kit, I could probably get this thing assembled. Do these pieces look familiar to...

It is becoming difficult and counterproductive, when I am seeking answers about Unix and its offshoots, to not simply read google's AI answer. Especially FreeBSD. It puts the command you need right there where you cannot ignore it, and at that point, it is ridiculous to not just try the command, as long as it's not piping curl to the shell or any such nastiness. It has not been wrong yet, and I have tentatively thrown some detailed Sysadmin tasks at it that would have taken me all day...

"Prevent cognitive debt by retyping LLM-generated code by hand" (I just installed gorss on my #FreeBSD server, and naturally Hacker News is a default subscription, and that is the title of a post there in the default feed when I launched it) You know, that would probably work just fine, to deal with cognitive debt. It also makes you into a 1980s 8-bit magazine kid, typing in a program off a printed page to get a chintzy Asteroids game... but that's actually a perfectly fine thing...

I used to make mixtapes. Then I made mix CDs. Many of my friends did the same. You would craft this one object, nobody else would have it, and you hand it to your friend, and thus they know you are their friend. Now, ask me how well I like that today that is replaced with making a Playlist hear me yell at The Cloud

Dreamed I got on the bus* in my gitch, and was napping cozily with my head against the window. I was in the back right seat, as was my wont in youth. Nowadays I stay near the front, don't like the look of those teenagers. When I woke up and realized I was begitched, I weirdly did not panic and try to look around for something to cover up with, which is what I used to do when I had the "went to school/work naked" dream. I just kinda looked around curiously, a bit blase about it...

@mwl@io.mwl.io Advice beg incoming, but I think you won't mind providing a SOTU as far as Jails and documentation/training goes. I'm reading a copy of your Jails book that was handed down, and I also watched some of one of your more recent webinars about em, in which you emphasized the danger of dated docs (realized I was getting the same info but better and more complete from the book, so went back to reading, for now). Your book as I'm reading it, seems to be 2019 publish,...

Difference between Free Software and Open Source, subtle but definite: This article, in which a bunch of neofeudalist scumbags attempt to make a fascist government shore up their empires, with good chance of success, includes the line "open source is not open season on American IP". Now, replace Open Source with Free Software and say it out loud. Note how uncomfortable you feel. It's true that Free Software is not open season on American IP, yes, but that's because it IS an...

I hate George Thorogood.... SO MUCH I do not even have an explanation for it, other than the obvious reasons, but the things, I forgive other white men for singing in a voice that sounds black. I do it sometimes, because certain phonemes, when sung in Rock'n'Roll, are done in a certain timbre. Like how all the British dudes sound American when they sing, at least until the 90s or thereabouts. But Thorogood, he takes it farther, to my ears. It might also be his fans, who are, to a man...

I don't know if @mwl@io.mwl.io has overtly commented on this, but I think my favorite thing about his tech manuals is the cultural transmission inherent to statements like Iocage can manage hundreds of your most common types of jail, freeing you up to painfully maintain a couple of festering hand-tweaked artisan jails that require their own exotic weirdness. ...which verily informs you, at a visceral level, that if you want to get into this form of wizardry, if you want to be the calm bear...
