I don&#39;t believe people who suggest that online communities are uniquely inherently toxic and meeting people irl fixes everything. I have a decent irl social life but have you *seen* real life communities? You don&#39;t think they&#39;re just as toxic with more presently dangerous consequences?

@julieofthespirits@kolektiva.social Part of my academic pet peeve with definitions of fascism that rely too heavily on the particularities and policy of 1940s consolidated fascist states, because they were still fascist before they took complete control! If they had never took control and remained solely a paramilitary force, we would still need a way to discuss the fascist ideology without state policy as reference. You want a way to recognize them *before* they can build a fascist state death...
