I don't believe people who suggest that online communities are uniquely inherently toxic and meeting people irl fixes everything. I have a decent irl social life but have you *seen* real life communities? You don't think they're just as toxic with more presently dangerous consequences?

Wow there's infighting and oppression olympics online? What a coincidence then, they're just like every local queer organization ever except the infighting in local groups more often leads to someone's roommate kicking her out

@jake2@kolektiva.social its mainly that online communities are like hyper cities that you can easily move to or away from so low incentive to invest in community and little punishment for fucking up. small fixed communities have problems but the opposite huge punishment for being an outlier and big incentive to accept anycommunity
