And as a field of research, there had been many useful and interesting algorithms and heuristics. I also learned in 1988 and since, that intelligence is never artificial and machines don’t actually learn.     I must admit to having mixed feelings as to the Artemis mission. The emotions for this mission are different than those for Apollo. Also, I worked as a system engineer developing Bayesian risk assessment methodologies for parts of the Space Transportation System. The original STS plans included a reusable, crewed launch vehicle, the Shuttle, Earth and Lunar Space stations, a space ship to go between them, and lunar landers.
