  Surely someone at Apple must appreciate that this is a shit user experience? And most people are just going to click yes regardless? It's not adding extra security when done en-masse like this after a .x OS update. SO frustrating.

  If I've done this right, my blog is now migrated to a fully static backend using Astro. I didn't do a radical redesign of the theme for the migration MVP, but I did add a better search, an archive and some other small things likely only I'll notice. But completing this project is a big day, really. This marks the end of my blog being CMS based since before it morphed into what is now LinuxServer.io (before splitting off again a while later). LSIO was just my blog in the earliest day...

  I’m seriously considering shrinking my ZFS pool to protect myself from current hardware pricing. My primary pool is split into 2 z2 vdevs each presently. 7x 20tb disks + 3x 18tb. The pool is about 62% full. I could easily delete a ton of media and get it under 40%. And with USED 18tbs on average going for $275 a pop these days, I think that’s just smart. My doing this I can keep 2-3-4? Drives as spares. Maybe I won’t need them. But I think I’ll worry a bit less about them if I know I can h...

  Set up a Hermes instance last night with a few different local models hooked up from my Mac. I’ve hooked that up to home assistant via an mcp server, and have already automated more little QOL things in the last few hrs than I have in the last few months. Absolutely end game being able to use natural language to debug automations via telegram without having to tether to a computer. This is huge! #homeassistant

  Thank the stars for Linux. Seriously, I mean, it is such a gift to have it. The fact that I can download all software I need from the internet, for free, legally, to make my computer work - and it’s arguably as good or better for the most part on the desktop than any commercial option - is nothing short of a miracle in this age of surveillance and enshittification. To all of you who see this that contribute to this modern marvel, I thank you. 🙏

  @bazurk do you actually want automatic updates though? Waking up to an update alert is preferable to waking up to an app with a botched db migration that wiped all your data because you weren’t there to do it.

  What does your #selfhosted backup situation look like? Mine is a box at a friends place with ZFS zrepl based replication hourly. Plus a second box at my parents for geographically distributed safety using restic to separate any ZFS replication issues. Basically a backup of a backup 🎰

  Home Assistant renamed "add-ons" to "apps" recently. Whyyyyyyyyyy? It's so frustrating that they are still moving stuff around like this. Guides, documentation, and videos all point at add-ons - and have done for years - so unless you have a _really good reason_, don't change it! #homeassistant
