The feds are trying to open the land around Chaco canyon to mineral extraction... again. Not only is this land sacred to native peoples all across the southwest, it also is home to a huge number of culturally sensitive sites. Want to know something crazy? I think that scorpion sting cured my tendonitis. To be fair, it was starting to get better before I got stung so maybe I didn&#39;t notice it getting better during the two days my body was on fire. OTOH, I was trying to sweat it out so I wasn&#39;t exactly taking it easy. Maybe my body&#39;s response to the poison also took care of other inflammation as well?

One of the kids graduated last night! They graduated from a small highschool in rural Arizona. You&#39;d expect things to be very conservative given the political climate in the US but the school doubled down on the inclusivity. Thinking about my mom today. Her dad was an oil prospector in Southeast New Mexico. She spent her childhood bouncing from one mining camp to another. She had a tough time when she was young, dealing with with poverty and depression. She was incredibly creative and capable eventually earning her doctorate and becoming chair of the Art History department at UNM. We weren&#39;t always super close but I never doubted that she loved me. Miss you Mom. ♥️

I made pink lemonade. Of course, I don&#39;t actually know what goes into pink lemonade and this turned out more crimson than pink. Either way, it&#39;s great! Here&#39;s the recipe: In a 2c Pyrex measuring cup mix ¼c sugar, four dried jamaica* flowers and 1c of boiling water. Stir and let sit until cool. When I was a kid, we lived near Don Pancho&#39;s cinema. A storefront movie theater across from UNM in Albuquerque. On Saturday, they had a matinee, whatever they could get cheap. Foreign films, monster movies, reruns and b movies. Admission was less than a buck and I went all the time. While my compatriots were watching Pretty in Pink, I was watching The Flying Guillotine and Monster Zero. No wonder I never fit in. 😅 #movies #Albuquerque #NewMexico

It&#39;s no secret, I&#39;m happy drinking instant coffee. (If you need to go block me, I understand.) Café Listo is my new favorite. From El Salvador, it&#39;s got a nice roasty flavor with no burnt bitterness. The name is kind of a play on words, meaning either &quot;Ready Coffee&quot; or &quot;Smart Coffee&quot;. I ditched my smartphone. But the camera on my flip phone is garbage. I got a Sony alpha NEX-5. Ancient but, by my standards, a ridiculously premium device that packs plenty of pixels. What it doesn&#39;t do is all the cool post processing. I&#39;m used to the high contrast, over saturated images that Google photos turns out. I need to find some decent software to replicate (some of) that. What do you use for processing your photos? I need something fairly simple that runs on *nix. #photo...
