@heygarrett@social.lol Thank you! ☺️ I got a "How long have you been growing your hair out‽" from a few trans folks last week, and I think it finally clicked that…oh shit, I have properly long hair now. 😅 And honestly, I'm loving it. 😁

Oh my goodness, I am no longer racking and cabling network gear and that means I CAN PAINT MY NAILS AGAIN! 🎉

Oh, and here are a few photos from the trip! (13/13)

Two years and one day ago, I was in an endocrinologist's office having an "informed consent" conversation. That afternoon, I picked up my prescription, and two years ago this morning, I started spironolactone and low-dose oral estrogen. I was terrified at the time, and my "transition goals" were very different than they ended up becoming. I wasn't interested in breast development, though I wasn't *necessarily* opposed to it — these days, I struggle to imagine a s...

Perspective: Telling a long-time acquaintance I'm going to Nashville, and hearing him say "Oh, I hear it's a really fun city!" And then thinking "I imagine *you'd* have a lovely time." Thinking about how my wife is worried about my gender presentation on the construction site where I'll be working — being someone slightly fem in a very masc space like that. Being in a state with a poor track record around trans rights. Intellectually, know I'll be fine,...

Unexpectedly gender-affirming activity of the week: Getting some new work clothes, because I'm going to Nashville during the summer and my body is *not* the right shape for my old ones anymore. 😆 I'll have to remember to post a "fit check" pic next week!

After about first or second grade, birthdays always felt weird to me, and that feeling intensified as I got older. It's not a day I picked. As an accidental pregnancy, in some ways it's not even a day *my parents* picked. I spent a long time not caring about myself enough to want to celebrate my birthday in any meaningful capacity. I decided to come out socially as non-binary two years ago today. It was one of the first major steps I took to choose myself, so this day has a lot more wei...

@Haste@mastodon.social I very briefly considered working for Cisco towards the start of my career. In some capacity, I supposed I *did* work for Cisco at my very first job (outsourced tech support). Talking to their employees over the years, though, I heard very few positive things about management/leadership at the company. The environment sounds extremely competitive, in a very unhealthy way. (Like any big company, this likely varies a bit depending on where you are organizationally speaking....

Hanging curtains counts for at least three days of my "adulting" quota, right? 😅 Massive props to @Corgisaurus for finding the rail system and curtain color; I'm amazed at how good it looks in the space!

Back in January, I had an endocrinology consult to update my HRT regimen that went…less than great.¹ At the time, I scheduled a consultation with a different provider for three months out; that appointment happened today. The doc at my endo follow-up in January was *extremely* hesitant to change anything else about my regimen. The doc I saw today did a better job of listening to my concerns about the whole picture, and seemed to be much more "in touch" with the current research (very...

So, I wrote recently about how I'm dropping the "agender" label because it doesn't fit me anymore. As part of that, I'm also looking for a new home for some of the agender Pride stuff I picked up over the last couple of years. I'm not looking for reimbursement for the items themselves. I'm happy to ship these wherever, if you can cover the cost of shipping from the Seattle metro area. I'll put item descriptions in the alt text, b...

Okay, last bit of #TDOV seriousness for today, and then I'll be back to shenanigans. My brother-in-law is a wonderful writer, and wrote what I'd consider an incredibly eloquent speech that he delivered last year. The full text and some accompanying images/links is only available on Substack at the moment, so I'll put the text in a reply below for anyone who doesn't want to click through.
