Oh yay, nothing like having to complete a drug test to qualify for employment, with the appointment window at the most convenient location being /this/ close to the deadline to get it done. So scrambling to find one that takes walk-ins or an appointment with enough leeway to make other arrangements if that falls though. Also, &lt;/anxiety&gt; and I can&#39;t even take a Xanax because drug test.

I just accepted a job offer for a fully remote position that will eventually require a visit to corporate HQ, which is located ~90 minutes from where I grew up. It's tempting to plan some extra time to stop by the old digs but I'm estranged (my choice) so don't really want to see what's left of the family who raised me. Reminder that the 10th Amendment doesn&#39;t automatically throw non-Federal issues to the states, it can also grant rights directly to the people. Anyone who claims the 10th Amendment in the name of states&#39; rights (abortion, marriage, voting) only wants the state to do the oppressing rather than the federal government. #uspol

So begins my first day of actual unemployment since [checks] January 2008. I&#39;m spending the day catching up on transfer of health insurance benefits (thanks a bunch, US &quot;health care system&quot;). I told myself when I started this position that I wanted it to be my last tech job. I still mostly feel that way but I was hoping it would have lasted a bit longer.
