@pumpernickel I mean, technically money is all a fiction anyway, but that doesn't stop billionaires from hoarding it and poor people being unable to get it. I'm not sure what big companies borrowing money has to do with this either.

@datakid It's good at some coding tasks, if you don't care about the security of what it has built or have enough knowledge and time to fix any vulnerabilities yourself. And also only if you know enough about how to engineer prompts to make it produce good stuff in the first place. But we're already at the point where not everyone should have to work. So many jobs are meaningless busy-work. We're grateful for those because work is required for money. If LLMs take...

Today is the 50th anniversary of #TheDismissal in Australia - when our democratically elected Prime Minister (the leader of our country) was removed from office by the conniving conservative party, allegedly with the CIA's involvement. I wasn't born yet so I have no memories of that time to share, but every time I read about what happened... it makes me furious. All we can do now is laugh as the conservative party falls further into obscurity by embracing the far-right and watch...

@anna I joined Mastodon shortly after Musk took over Twitter because I didn't want him in control of my data but I followed a bunch of people that I trusted for information on COVID and Aussie politics. I started out on the "main" mastodon.social instance, which was run by the guy who started the protocol Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse uses then moved to kolektiva.social when I began to disagree with the values of that instance (censoring of Palestinians and f...

@GossiTheDog My understanding (from Patrick Boyle on YouTube, but I can't remember which video right now) is that they are just shoving Copilot into everything so they can add it to their metrics. They are hugely profitable with other business, similar to Google and Amazon. I think Meta and OpenAI are the ones most likely to be taken out when it bursts.

@devopscats I thought votes away from Labor were going to the Greens rather than One Nation? My understanding is that the right is fracturing but left and centre-left are growing. Still funny that there's going to be One Nation seats though. I hope they crash and burn.

@devopscats Eek, yeah, I hope that doesn't take off. Preferential voting is the best thing.

@kcarruthers WOO! That's like 100% if we were scoring on empathy.
