  'The Long Walk' is just brutal. I remember the book being a brutal captivating read. This was a good adaptation, but I don't know if it's a movie I would want to watch again. Now on to 'Obsession', which I've heard great things about.

  Last night I watched the penultimate episode of #Babylon5. I was going to watch the last episode as well, but it had gotten late and I decided that it would be more fitting to watch the series finale along with the season premiere of the next series I'm watching: #Farscape I never watched Farscape when it was airing, and I've heard good things.

  This week I'm reading 'The Faith of Beasts' by James SA Corey. This is the second book in their Captives War trilogy and its... okay. Despite this book and the previous 'The Mercy of Gods' getting laudatory reviews, I feel they're a big step down from The Expanse. They don't feel like they have the full-realized world (galaxy?) building that The Expanse had nearly from the beginning. #FridayReads @bookstodon

  The Mummy from 1999 is such a fantastically written movie. It moves at a remarkable pace, but it's never confusing, the action is crystal clear, the dialogue is snappy. There is very little loose weight, everything in the film is there ultimately for a reason. And Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are pitch perfect with great chemistry.

  Finally watched Killers of the Flower Moon. My main takeaway is that it is a heartbreaking tragic story (I read the book a while ago), and there are parts of a good film here. but it was just too long. It should have been cut to be a much shorter film, it just made as a mini series. 4 episodes would give about the same length, but be better structured. Also, why the radio show framing at the end? That was an odd choice. As was Scorcese's self-insert.

  Playing #FinalFantasyXVI and everyone keeps giving Clive marks and seals to show their support. I kind of feel like his armor is like a racing jumpsuit now with all the sponsor logos on it.

  I just realized a small thing that helps me really appreciate my subscription to the Criterion Channel: there is no algorithm saying "You may also like this". You can either browse through the collection that is available or rely on themed showcases compiled by their curators. It is very refreshing not to have constant engagement shoved at you.

  RE: https://mas.to/@Techaltar/116362837194700650 It's generally good practice to delete everything after the ? in a URL if you're going to share it anywhere. That will usually remove any tracking nonsense attached to the URL. I recommend copying the URL /before/ the ? and then pasting it in another tab to make sure it still works and loads the correct page.
