This week I'm reading 'The Faith of Beasts' by James SA Corey.
This is the second book in their Captives War trilogy and its... okay. Despite this book and the previous 'The Mercy of Gods' getting laudatory reviews, I feel they're a big step down from The Expanse. They don't feel like they have the full-realized world (galaxy?) building that The Expanse had nearly from the beginning.

I am also deep into 'The Use of Weapons' by Iain M. Banks on audio. I've mentioned this before, it's taken me about 4.5 books to feel like I grasp the mindset of the Culture books. And this book may turn out to be my current favorite because of that understanding because I'm greatly enjoying this book. The Culture books are usually presented as big space opera - but the books so far have been really intimate, deep in the thoughts of its characters. #FridayReads @bookstodon

@fskornia this is good to know as I've had ‘The Mercy of the Gods' on my list for a while. I loved The Expanse series. That was so fun. The premise of the Captives War books seems really interesting.
