  Enlightening discussion this evening with Doug Jones, Senator Cory Booker, AL Congresswoman Terri Sewell, and #birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin discussing all of the redistricting that’s about to be attempted here in #Alabama and what will be needed to defeat those efforts. So much work to be done here and all around the country.

  If you know the names Marshall McLuhan & Neil Postman then you can probably skip this one. If you don’t recognize those names then the first 90 pages of Garber’s “Screen People” will feel like fresh air. While I 100% agree with what the book asserts, it lacks some clarity & AN INDEX! It mentions lots of bad things alongside the word “platforms”, but never connects dots or offer solutions.   Tuning into Rep. Shomari Figures' Montgomery Town Hall happening right now clarifying facts re: gerrymandering. It's infuriating that we all have to take time for this. Actual progress has been made over the past couple of decades. There are voters that will lose their voice if all these new voter maps happen. Ridiculous. #alabama #montgomeryal #politics

  Started Seth Long’s “The Last Mixtape” last night & it’s off to a good start. He’s using music curation (making your own mixtapes) as the lens to talk about other evolving technologies. Mixtapes were a huge part of my life & I’m curious to see where Long goes with it, as he says: “I’m writing for those who are curious about the relationship between technological turnover and generation cycles of nostalgia.” and “All technology is stamped with a sell-by date.” #books #bookstodon

  Is anyone else paying attention to what the Digg folks are up to? https://di.gg/ I am not sure but it seems they start with "ranking influencers” and then us ai to sort and focus conversations? Feels like everything else out there, a bit weird & not nearly as unique as we need these days. Maybe it's just early days and I'm missing the whole point. Could absolutely be over my head. #technology

  This morning I learned that blue herons eat squirrels. I see these often down around the rivers and creeks, but pretty wild to watch such a majestic and massive bird on land like this. I had no idea. #birds #nature

  It’s always embarrassing when Alabama’s leaders support outdated thinking and lean into meanness. Things have been so much better since we’ve had these newer districts. They lead to actual energy and positive moves in Montgomery. So depressing.
