#Codeberg voted to frown upon / sneer at / actually turn away projects maintained with LLMs: [[Protecting our FLOSS commons from LLMs]]: https://blog.codeberg.org/protecting-our-floss-commons-from-llms.html Some of the arguments having to do with e.g. forge usage disproportionate to user count make total sense to me, given limited resources. Some don't, e.g. these projects are being told to go away: - Projects written and maintained with heavy use of LLMs - Projects heavily tied to...

This week, alongside a host of good new experiences, I had the singular and terrible opportunity of hearing a cow cry and rage after one of her calves was taken away (presumably to the slaughterhouse). Let me tell you, that cow did not go silently into compliance nor moved on in any shape or form. Days later, around dawn, she still sounded like she was ready to burn down the place because of her still missing calf, and it made me wish I could hand her the fire.

Could we just agree, as a global community, not to elect any more #Boomers to top positions starting 2027? Meaning no more Boomer presidents and heads of state; they've had their fair multi-decade chance and they can still participate, but top level decision making should now be elsewhere.

An interesting #Fediverse poll on the potential benefit of investing more in #algorithms with a clear majority opinion (negative) but also people in every minority opinion bucket. Original link: https://social.coop/@flancian/116392985027353068

#PSA that since Mastodon 4.2 there is an option to make your public posts explicitly available to Fediverse search engines. To enable it, you need to: - Go to <instance>/settings/privacy, e.g. https://social.coop/settings/privacy - And tick: "Include public posts in search results" This should make them available to e.g. #Holos at https://discover.holos.social/, see also https://discover.holos.social/how-it-works

Finally, after ~25 days or so, I can follow @seldo! #Socialcoop suspended him which made them vanish off the face of the earth from the point of view of our #Fediverse instance. Is that OK? Honestly: it didn't feel great. I am very particular about being able to interact with the people I want to interact with, and take objection to insufficiently justified unilateral actions. I filed a concern about it with the moderation team and they recently reached a decision.

I'm liking #Blacksky a lot so far because 1. there are a lot of people there who seem actually committed to questioning the status quo and promoting social change and 2. it lets me 'pop out' of several of the bubbles I'm in. It's probably the most exciting large community I know of currently. I just installed [[Tab Manager Plus]] for Chrome and I like it right away: it lets you search all your tabs *and* take actions on all matching tabs, e.g. closing them but also moving them to a new window. This might in practice have an actual effect on the level of tabs I'm running at all times.
