every year on independence day there's this local realtor who stakes up these cheap little plastic american flags on wooden dowels next to each mailbox for all the houses in the neighborhood. the flag's probably like 6" on its short side, the dowel in total probably about a foot, and they usually fade to almost unrecognizable within a week or two. she uses them to tack down her business card by way of advertisement. I usually take out and toss the one in front of our house the same...

Hey all, just getting the word out since our instance was a target - there is a critical security and feature update for Writefreely that was released two days ago - the big one is that previously even with registrations disabled or set to invite-only on multi-user instances, the registration page could still be accessed and used to create accounts. The zoner instance had some 1800 bot accounts registered and posting spam before I shut it down. We've since updated and I've rolled back t...

@Lunalucardrose20@corteximplant.com added two cloves of garlic yesterday to a recipe that didn't call for any, which absolutely improved the recipe. which supposes that the theoretical ratio of prescribed to implemented garlic could potentially reach infinity.

Watching increasingly more people think it's okay to be shitty to each other simply because [gestures broadly]. I don't understand that. In these times, it's more important than ever that you find your fucking empathy. Take care of those around you and who intersect with you. Care about the individual. Take a moment and understand the weight you're carrying, it's the weight we're all carrying on top of our normal-ass everyday-ass lives that are still demanding our full...

anxiety is stupid because like 98% of the time I've way over thought and agonized whatever situation that turned out to be really easy and stress free, and the 2% of the time it was right it didn't help make the situation better or more predictable anyway.

I just love (read: hate) the juxtaposition of Alito basically saying societal change has been sufficient to eradicate racism in recent decades therefore the provision in the voting rights act no longer has a place (the same argument the executive used for ending DEI programs, by-the-by) and then immediately the next day states rushing to redraw their maps to carve secure seats out of minority districts, even going so far as to postpone primary elections to do it, in the case of Louisiana.

did my first escape room yesterday as part of a work function and had a really good time. i don't know if i'm ever going to "become an escape room person" but it definitely scratched the same itch that has me seeking out weird indie puzzle games too so hey, that's cool.
