I just love (read: hate) the juxtaposition of Alito basically saying
societal change has been sufficient to eradicate racism in recent decades therefore the provision in the voting rights act no longer has a place
(the same argument the executive used for ending DEI programs, by-the-by)
and then immediately the next day states rushing to redraw their maps to carve secure seats out of minority districts, even going so far as to postpone primary elections to do it, in the case of Louisiana.

@fen@zoner.work :neofox_flop: its like the clean air zones here, they work and then the next thing the partically conservitive councilers want to do it to get rid of them because they worked. Laws influence social changes and removing them causes the pressure that pushed that social changes to disappear

@fen @LunaDragofelis ? so uh the argument is "racism is gone therefore this isnt doing anything but uh its bad to keep it around anyway because ??" so they can discriminate against some other group?? or?? huh this doesnt make sense??
