emily, professional edge case

I make electronics go beep boop and tools go spinny. Also, I pet cats sometimes.

I am eternally grumpy that the state of the internet, and of fedi in particular, is such that the following isn't obvious:

If it's visible to you, you can interact with it. If it's public, you can boost it. You don't need to ask me for permission first.

I understand nuance and will not be mad if you respectfully disagree with me on something.

Follow requests require approval only for cursory vibe checks, and will be accepted if your profile has literally anything to suggest you're not an asshole or spambot.

long shot: do any of you #retrocomputing people have a copy of "i960 SA/SB Microprocessor Reference Manual", intel sku 270929? specifically that reference manual. *not* 272206/272207, that's the datasheet it definitely exists and I cannot find it and now I'm doing a hyperfocus about it

does anyone ever actually call the "get in touch with us" numbers on the back of food packaging? what happens if you do? kind of curious but not curious enough to risk getting into an extended conversation with a jellybean enthusiast

The Matrix contingent of the "let's move the Olympia discord community to something else" had an experimentation session with Zulip today. Lots of neat ideas here. Threads are good and more things should have them. I wanted to like it. Two things kill it for me: - The mobile app is terrible. You get the low-density "avatar + username on one line, message below that, padding all around" style, and that's it. There are three different views of messages and two of them...
