People are complaining that the Artemis mission costs too much at 4.1 billion USD per launch. How many days of war against Iran is that? 2? https://www.space.com/nasa-artemis-moon-program-93-billion-2025

i try to do something im happy to put out into the world each day (often i fail!) before i get into my regular work. today i worked on some edits to Learn You a Haskell, just minor edits but still feels good. and the folks maintaining it are super nice! https://github.com/learnyouahaskell/learnyouahaskell.github.io/pull/133 #haskell

I suck at sending invoices (and really adulting). But I've cracked the code. Turns out it's much easier to spend a ton of time building an automated invoice generation system rather than spending 3 minutes making an invoice via a web interface. So, yeah. Soon I'll have a fully automated time tracking and invoice automation system. Maybe I'll even add it to cron!

Goatmire was the most fun conference I've ever been to. It's Elixir + Nerves, which is already cool, but I think it's really the vibes that made it great last year. Talks are super varied. It's in a literal theatre and it really has that feeling of watching a production rather than dull conference stuff. I'm on the program committee this year and would love to see your talk on the list! First-time speakers are especially encouraged to submit. "I don't have anything t...

i worked for groupon for a bit, they were pretty big at the time. i remember being so surprised when i saw the site go down regularly. i wasn’t part of the tech team doing site stuff but i was on the hipchat channels with them. they’d do pushes that just broke the site completely. i never understood why people found this acceptable. idk, test better? they should’ve used phoenix and nix 🤭

i remember going to baseball games as a child and always being worried what if the ball is hit towards me and smacks me right in the head? i don’t think this was a major preoccupation for other kids. but think about it. bro is hitting a ball as hard as he can and often goes right into the audience. how can this be safe? we’re not even wearing protection.

i need to develop a clear and coherent stance on LLM usage. what i do know, im afraid of what the future is going to look like. im sad if programming as a thing goes away - i enjoy programming. im afraid for all the jobs that will be lost. most of the contract work i get involves AI or the company uses AI a lot. the tech itself is interesting but tainted by all the other stuff i mentioned. its a very polarising subject too, many people love love love it (usually they are in an AI startup) or the...
