  Most people don’t actually like, or even want, new. They prefer the improved. They want the thing they already know, but better. Occasionally, someone will change the game with something revolutionary, say the iPhone, but that doesn’t happen very often and the creator is taking a big risk by creating something no one wants, or least no one knows they want. There is no such thing as “new and improved.” It’s either one or the other.

  The hard part in maintaining your own website, is that it’s difficult to find an audience. No one is finding you through search anymore, and there is no mechanism for driving traffic.   I would not recommend anyone visit the US right now, but if we ever get back to relative normalcy, the one place I would recommend people visit is New Orleans. It’s unlike anywhere on Earth. It’s the best American city. NY, LA, Miami, Chicago, Boston, and Philly are all cool and interesting in their own way. But New Orleans is like visiting another planet.   In another life, I would have been a good small-town newspaper publisher. If I ever find a rich but liberal benefactor, I could still make that happen. I find everything interesting, am endlessly curious, and can make anything, even an obituary, entertaining. The thing is, I probably also need to run the radio station and do all the advertising for both. If I wasn’t married, I could just move to some small town and set up shop. I don’t need porn. This is what I fantasize about.

  I was never worried about looking old, wrinkles, grey hair—the whole milieu. But when I lost weight and shaved the beard that had been hiding it, I was suddenly faced with my old turkey neck.
