I just took a look at our electrical consumption the last ~10 days. Being able to run ACs to keep the flat in an acceptable temperature range is definitively something that requires the privilege of having "surplus" money. Not only you need to be able to buy them at some point, you also need to be able to pay the electrical bill, and that isn't to underestimate. Three years ago I was at the WGT in Leipzig and met @ics@tau-ceti.space on their #trainabout ("a short meeting, maybe a coffee" turned into 6hours or so). That was most likely the catalytic event that made my egg crack two and a half days later (I don't think it wouldn't have cracked otherwise, but not sure about the timeline). And while it is sometimes strenuous and the energy for side projects is way lower "currently" - it's my life now, and it's worth livin...
