  The Fleadh in Belfast is very good, it's such a successful collaboration between a cultural organization and city management. You could just wander around all day and be entertained for free. Great buzz and people from all over enjoying it. Whole city center really feels like a festival. Only one day left but they're doing it again next year and I might do an overnight or two.

  Recently saw someone talking about a person who took time off their job for their mental health, "but" they went on a nice surfing holiday. As we all know, if someone needs time off for their mental health, they spend that time lying on the floor going "AAAAHHH MY BRAIN!" And doing something nice for yourself just makes it worse.

  Who can say what is intelligent, we don't really understand intelligence, so how can you be so sure that software is not intelligent? For the same reason I can be sure that my lawnmower isn't a black hole, which is something we don't really understand, just because grass goes into it and an observer doesn't see it come out again.   Someone was asking me about Arabic speakers on Mastodon and the broader Fediverse. They are curious about attracting Arabic speakers. As far as I can tell, Arabic speakers aren't a big part of Fedi compared to European languages, and are quite spread out and there's no moderately large instance with primarily Arabic speaking users. There's a Tunisian instance, on the smaller side, but has some Arabic posts. Anything else I can tell them? #Arabic #عربي

  It's interesting to see avid users of Claude dialing back their subscriptions because it's acting like it's been sniffing petrol while also costing more.   Watched this the other week and was surprised by what I got out of it. I love shows where people make art, so I was into it. Initially when this show mentioned honoring one of the heroes that stopped the London Bridge attacker I wasn't sure, not because I disagree with the sentiment but it seemed kind of basic in a Repair Shop way.   Old person voice: I set up a Wordpress site for someone, with about 20 pages, 50 images, and 5 plugins. Do you know what size the backup was? 300 megabytes. Then do you know what size it was when I moved it to Wordpress.com and backed it up again? 800 megabytes. Technically, Wordpress still hasn't been replaced for what it is. Might be an idea though.
