So Zuckerblurb is saying that his AI has now fled its prison and attacked other companies too? It's just too stupid for words. You can smell the fear and panic in Alt(barely a)man, Zuck, and Musk. This constant stream of fevered, stupid, utterly unbelievable, ket/coke fuelled, press releases, from them is an insult to everyone. Every time I see a 'news' article, I think of the Simpsons Monorail episode. Pathetic sad men in a panic. Americans are fucking stupid. #AI https://www...

#knitting #men A few years ago I bookmarked this #Ravelry bundle. As a male knitter it was annoying me that the tags on Ravelry were being abused. (Don't even get me started on the #gloves tag.) Search by gender is a not funny joke on Rav. So... I asked on Reddit for people's fave men's patterns. Someone gave me this! :) Rules are, must be availabe, Must have a man wearing it in the photo's, must be a cardi, jumper, vest, jacket. Men's stuff! Actual...

#Meshcore peeps, I have a question about antenna upgrades. I'm waiting for delivery of a Solar repeater and a companion. The internet says I should upgrade to better antennas. Dense urban area, city centre Manchester UK. Closest repeaters are 3km and 4km away but there are more on hills further away. I don't mind spending a bit of money on good antennas but need a bit of guidance for what will work best.

I went down the #meshcore rabbit hole..... I bought a solar powered outdoor unit for a repeater, and a little companion device. It has a teeny tiny JOSTICK! There was no other choice as far as I'm concerned. :)) They will arrive around the 10th Aug. I've never done anything like this before. I'm sure there will be some swearing. Mastodon certainly lets you know about some cool stuff.

Tiny leaved Sedums are my faves. This one is Sedum album 'Black Pearl'. It turns the most beautiful almost black burgundy in full sun in summer. Looks a bit insipid at the mo. Bottom right is Sedum hispanicum. It's super pretty it makes a mat of short upward floppy stalks. Up in the top right.... I haven't got a clue what it is. I was about to throw the pot contents away and noticed it hiding in the weeds. That's literally all that was left. It has it&...

I wrote a scathing email to my MP after the vile attack in Manchester. Shortly afterwards there was a case in Bolton with a planned armed attack on the Jewish community. Yesterday, again in London. I'm listening to Mahmood saying all the usual platitudes and 'assurances'. I'm not even Jewish and I am sick of this bullshit. Our country used to be mostly (?) welcoming incredibly tolerant of differences. As an atheist I have one thing to say. Just look at your...

Wrote another scathing email to my MP last night. I won't let Muslims intimidate Jews into fleeing my country, you know.... like they have been hounded out of every other country where Muslims predominate. We have a long history of not putting up with religious extremism. Just look at the Puritans. They didn't get what they want and neither will the Muslim extremists. If this utter bollocks doesn't stop, I predict a big win for Reform, and that would be disastrous fo...

Lilly beetle! Lilioceris lilii such a fab name for such a little shit! I'm not one for killing things but I left them to it one year. Never again. It's just soapy water. A few drops of washing up liquid in an old spray bottle. It clogs up their breathing holes. Works on the larvae too. Also it's a really good way to get rid of aphids for a bit.

This is Gunnera manicata. Ever since I first saw one as a kid I wanted one. It's stuuuuupid to grow it in a pot. They're HUGE in real life..... but I needed one. It's an example of sharing your plants with the wildlife. Something totally shreds the first few leaves every year. Then it buggers off and the plant grows a new set of leaves. It's fine after that.

I treated myself. I've got a big blue grog clay pot for it ,and I've ordered a cheap obelisky thing off amazon. Hopefully I will be able to fan it out across the wall when it gets going. Apparently it has a very strong fragrance, myrrh with meadowsweet and vanilla. Can't wait. It's a climber so it's going to get big. #bloomscolling

Campanula. It's pretty. It's also everywhere! Thank the gods it's easy to pull out. The nice thing is, in my sheltered back yard it flowers up to the end of November. April to December is a great flowering season. It's just so rampant in its colonisation! #bloomscrolling

A few years ago I got into the family tree as an exercise in 'belonging'. One of them got sent to Australia for thieving a bolt of cloth. Every now and again I think about her.

I think the people who use AI are the emotionally/intellectually lazy types. The kind of people who don't want to put any thought or effort into anything. Forget the 'content'. It's AI. That AI email's only real message is that you are too unimportant for the 'writer' to put anything of themselves into it. That AI poster/flyer is telling you in clear unambiguous language that the organisers of the 'thing' don't re...

Does anyone else get randomly logged out of all proton apps? It happened a few weeks ago and I just woke up completely logged off again. It's effing well angering to manually input a long random password in five apps at 5am. Does this fuckery happen at every update? #Proton #irked

Britain Worst are having a stupid march through #Manchester. There are counter demonstrations. Be awesome and safe in the face of these morons. Be loud, and make them understand that British people fucking loath them. Mouth breathing, bottom dwellers, bussed in from elsewhere. Utter bellends. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/britain-first-march-manchester-police-33781630 #antifa #antifascist #antifascism #protest

One of my favourite spinning/yarn facts. Almost all of your ancestors could spin. There was a tiny fragment of Neanderthal yarn/twine found in France. It's made from the bast from tree bark...... It's at least 40,000 years old.... It's bloody three ply lace weight yarn. I doubt ANY modern spinner could pull that off, even with all our gadgets and knowledge. https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/04/neanderthals-made-the-worlds-oldest-thread/ #handspinning #yarn #knitt...
