is there a remote switchable plug that doesn't require a ton of setup, account logins, or depend on external server connectivity? it needs to do ~1500W 13A. i just want to turn on my kettle without going downstairs first. i do not use any home automation and am not interested in it. i just want to control a single plug. #lazyweb

wildlife and garden update: i decided to take down the bird feeder. despite best efforts, there have been two big fights that lead to lost fluff, feathers, and three limping birds. they're also pooping on all the cars. the mint seems established, but isn't ready to harvest yet. i think i'll split the two plants so they're not root-bound the sorrel is in rude health and i've been eating something from the garden every other day. gonna start freezing a lot of it for the win...

had to fix a trimmer when the spring went sproinging during maintenance. how the hell do you get a tension-loaded complex spring into an awkward spot with two other moving parts depending on it?! then i remembered i have a throwaway wrench with U-shaped prongs from a decade ago and dad-ran directly to where it was. and it worked ferpectly "box of cables"-type moment of victory ‎ ‎

my 🚩s when vetting accounts. not all are necessarily bad, but a signal. if the account ticks three or more it's a good sign they're suspect account age first and last name work credentials in profile lots of hashtags in most posts far more follows than followers very few interactions very few self-posts replies only to large accounts replyguy shit that doesn't address the OP's concerns no discernible interests or engagement in them no shitposting

if you're making zines or booklets, there are lots of imposition tools online for free. this is a good one for booklets if you have a saddle stapler or can go to a copy center and use theirs. you can also stitch instead of staple if you have a needle and thread.
