@dank@jorts.horse Except that's the wrong May Day. In the UK (and afaik most of mainland Europe), May 1st being a holiday is older than the USA, let alone Chicago. It's just not tied to the labour movement, it's more about the seasons. Old roots in pre-Christian and Roman cultures 😉 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_Day
