  It's nice to get a very detailed, clearly human-written review of a paper, even if it means there's potentially a lot to change for the camera-ready version. I need to keep remembering in my own reviews that I'm writing as much for the author as for the PC chairs and other reviewers. #eScience26

  Looking at OpenReview.net, used by AAAI. What a good example of the failings of AI... I can't update my name to how I prefer it, or to change the email address associated with a submission made by a collegue, as far as I can tell, nor can he. Also, I see a submission to another conference associated with my record that's not actually mine, but likely a different Daniel Katz. But there's no way to manually make changes that I can find.

  Yesterday/today might have been my worst work travel experience. I drove from Champaign to O'Hare, which took 30 minutes longer than normal (2 hrs, 15 min) due to traffic problems caused by very heavy rain and water on the road, which caused severe problems at the airport too. When I got to O'Hare, my 4 pm flight to Minneapolis was delayed to around 7 pm, along with all other flights, so I changed to the prior flight which was also delayed but only to 6, earlier than my origina...

  Given that Google is currently adding to messages to the top of Google Docs/sheets upselling their own services (I opened a sheet today and was asked if I wanted to use Gemini for phone calls, I think), I wonder how long it will be until we get third-party ads embedded there too, maybe specific to the content in the sheet/doc.
