In yet another work related convo about #LLM and dev usage. Pondering post the #Anthropic payout and the reactions and discussions this week around #huggingface/ #github scrape, I wonder if future litigious stuff should focus more on enforcement/takedown and removal of scraped stuff rather than recompense? Technically more challenging but I suspect the 1.5B doesn't actually deter Anthropic that much.

Quiet one at the #repaircafe today. My favourite fix was this little Mario night light where my young fixer buddy Leo did a lot of the work. #EachOneTeachOne

Lol wrong kit (small birdwatching scope on camera tripod) but had a lovely time looking at the moon with Seren trying to take pics with her mobile down the eyepiece! Not high end but breathtaking still! Recent @emily_s@mastodon.me.uk emf telescope experiences inspiring this!

I've just made a tiny video as I ran out of time to explain a thing to @robives@mastodon.social in @cccpresser@chaos.social brilliant @freecad@social.freecad.org workshop at #EMFcamp it's about the sketcher workbench and how external projections can sometimes cause "wire not closed" errors. I saw a few in the room so here is a very quick primer! #FreeCAD https://makertube.net/w/ftRLmrNB1ghrpWpYWScfvQ

Super pleased to write and post the winner announcement post for @freecad@social.freecad.org first ever #community #design competition which I co-ordinated. Not quite the end of the work on the project but good to have a first iteration of the process done and dusted. Also ace that the outputs are cleanly designed and needed parts for #openscience, and all licensed with the great #opensource #CERN OHL V2 licence means that they actually may make a difference in the world. Nice! https://blog.fre...

Huh! I was today years old when I realised that the mighty @libreoffice@fosstodon.org has a great tool for generating QR. In a world where online QR code generators tend to re route via themselves this is an awesome tool to find! #opensource

For todays #FreeCADFriday and my #mayke I've made a little #bike accessory. I often end up lashing things on top of my rear rack (waterproofs mostly!) and they often obscure my light that used to live on my seatpost. I've whipped up a little #freecad doohickey and #3dprinted it in PETG. It can be loosened and rotated to the side or underneath depending on what I'm carrying. Pleased with it! #biketooter I shall publish the files somewhere soon!

Todays #mayke is exploring making a minimal version of my enormous "Planstation" portable standing desk out of this interesting Fjallraven paramedic admin pouch. I've replaced the thin flexi whiteboard plastic with some ply to make a rigid shelf.

I enjoyed dipping in and out of the @oshwassociation 12hr live stream yesterday. Just watched Oscars amazing mouth driven mouse section.. awesome. Anyhoo if it's peaked your interest in getting something certified I have written a small guide to certifying #openhardware in the latest issue of the pay as you feel #SOURCE magazine. There's also a #KiCad primer a #FreeCAD beginners project and some #Inkscape stuff as well! Grab a copy here https://concretedog.blogspot.com/2025/10/s...

So a few have DM'd me asking whats going on with @tindie ... just wanted to say here I haven't worked for them for a good while so have no insights! I do still have a store there but have turned all options for EU or USA sales off so it's pretty inactive. I have to say its sad to see it not keeping store keepers informed. A post about it and perhaps the future, or the commitment to the platform on @hackaday would be a good move imho. #tindie.

Super pleased to be able to announce that we have a, very lean, website for #SOURCE magazine! There may be some features added down the line, but for now it's cool that I can shove the next issue PDF in a directory, run a script, and it pulls a thumbnail and some metadata from the PDF and populates the site when I push changes to a repo. Slight inference of this news is that I probably am considering keeping SOURCE running beyond the first 4 issues. #SOURCEmagazine https://sourcemag.co....
