oh huh, the spice-crypt project is gone without any notice as to why... there's still mirrors and debian has it but so strange.

one day i need to take inventory of my voltage references, but not today *puts ref54 sample baggie into drawer* *finds ref70, ref80, adr1001 while looking quickly*

TIL i can just type "−2=−1.22×(x+500k)/500k" in qalculate to solve for feedback resistors. now i finally don't need to shuffle the equation around in my head anymore :3

me when a project has <5 power rails: i don’t understand why people use power modules, it’s so easy to do me when a project escalates again: what do you mean 11 rails, fuck this shit. i wish there was a module for this…

hey #electronics #lazyweb, does anyone know a *negative* LDO that has sub-10µV rms output noise and is not from ADI? i'm looking for parts that aren't as expensive as the analog ones and closest thing i got is TPS7A30 with 15µV rms

saw a zirconium endmill which makes me think of the beryllium foil holder

hey #electronics fedi, anyone wants to do me a solid and glance at the Glasgow Interface Explorer revD design at https://codeberg.org/tachiniererin/glasgow_revD ? it's just a prototype pass right now and i know the layout and routing is far from optimal, i'm just trying to find any show-stoppers so that we can start with testing. edit: i've gotten enough findings by people in the meantime to warrant enough changes and a re-layout, thank you all! :boost_requested:

the question as old as PCB design: "will it fit or won't it"

let's see if this sense resistor layout (https://www.analog.com/en/resources/analog-dialogue/articles/optimize-high-current-sensing-accuracy.html) makes a difference with generic current sense resistors

dismantling an old semiconductor research lab is a weird experience. old photos and documents from before the internet existed that make you feel strangely nostalgic next to a refrigerator which has kept toxic chemicals at temperature for the last 30 years. that and shitloads of vacuum fittings.

doing @fafo logistics, looking at what stuff from the lab we should take. big ass bottle of carbon-tet in the corner. yeah, not taking that one. edit: sorry, false alarm, it’s the wrong tet. tetrafluoride not tetrachloride.
