I saw someone post that Mamdani is solving problems they didn’t even realize could be solved by government. Contrast this with Trump and Republicans who only know how to create problems from starting unwinnable wars, rolling back food safety and destroying our healthcare system. We deserve better

Databricks has a great write up of best practices for reducing AI token costs. 1. Adopt open weight/lower cost models. Most tasks don’t need the best models. 2. Harnesses are a form of lock-in, adopt one which allows model flexibility. 3. Avoid hard per developer budgets. Prefer dashboards and spend gates. https://www.databricks.com/blog/managing-ai-coding-costs-scale

The most important skill in prompting is expertise in the domain you’re prompting for is well understood in many corners. It is why hiring across the software industry now favors super ICs and experienced seniors over entry level hires. AI makes you more productive if you know what you’re doing. https://www.seangoedecke.com/llms-reward-expertise/

I’ve seen many engineers dunking on this position but I think it’s reasonable. Vibe coding is essentially replacing “no code” platforms and arguably the recent sale of Airtable is an indication of how that segment is compressing. Those users have no need for source code, it’s simply unnecessary.

You and I paying increased prices due to tariffs then corporations getting the refund is “trickle up economics.” Trump has invented even worse economic policies than Reagan. https://www.newsweek.com/tariff-refunds-split-companies-consumers-demand-share-12277265

Alibaba’s Qwen3.8-Max is out, a frontier model they say is competitive with Anthropic’s Fable. It’s a 2.4T parameter model with a 1M context window and will open source the weights next week. Following so shortly after the release of Kimi K3, it’s hard to claim China is months behind the US in developing frontier AI models. https://qwen.ai/blog?id=qwen3.8

I’ve spent months exploring smart defaults for fact checking to minimize hallucinations in ChatGPT & Claude and now have something I think is ready to share. Add the following prompt to the Settings->Personalization-> Custom instructions in ChatGPT and Settings-> Profile->Instructions in Claude.

Robinhood now makes more money from prediction markets than it does from stock trades or crypto. This adds weight to my theory that Bitcoin and crypto has crashed due to competition from Polymarket and Kalshi for the online gambler demographic.

Hank Green’s use of AI has been raised as an example of hypocrisy given Hank Green has been critical of the industry. However I think what’s more notable is being busted because the prompt leaked into the script. It shows how easy it is to stop reading the content you produce with AI before sharing it with others. That’s the real betrayal and is disrespectful to your audience. https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/01/youtuber-hank-green-says-his-ai-usage-is-not-healthy/

Claude Code is like airplane WiFi. The first few times I encountered it, I was like “This is amazing and it changes everything.” After a few months I realized although it’s quite useful, it also kind of sucks. Now all I see are the ways it could be better but fails to live up to its promise.

An AI generated tweet about how it’s important to avoid using AI generated Slack messages to ask your coworkers for help. 🙃 I’m surprised the solution proposed wasn’t to use ChatGPT to create an autoresponder to answer their questions. That way no one has to talk to anyone else ever again at work.

I find it fascinating that if I tell Claude to hack my fake Bank of America website and it instead, in classic LLM fashion, hallucinates and hacks the real one then there is no law that addresses this? Quite the loophole. I wonder what other crimes are legal as long as you get an LLM to do it?

Whenever a frontier lab AI CEO says that AGI will create a utopia, I play out the following thought experiment; imagine the Trump administration had a computer that could answer any question correctly. Would that world be a utopia? Is the lack of AGI what prevents our world from being a utopia?

Following OpenAI’s disclosure, Anthropic discloses that its AI models have also hacked public websites (thrice) during test runs of their hacking ability. I appreciate that this is framed properly as misconfigured environments and poor instruction following by Claude not burgeoning super-intellligence. https://www.anthropic.com/news/investigating-incidents-cybersecurity-evals

While Anthropic and OpenAI aren't yet public, you can track their valuation changes via Microsoft's quarterly earnings as it's invested in both. Microsoft marked up its Anthropic investment by $3.2B and marked down its OpenAI investment -$600M. It seems industry perception has matched valuations. https://techcrunch.com/2026/07/29/microsoft-logs-3-2b-from-anthropic-investment-but-openai-was-a-mixed-bag/

1,100 employees of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and other companies asking the U.S. government to slow down AI development because there is “a real risk” that AI progresses faster than people can “understand or control.” My $0.02 is this wouldn't be needed if people could be trusted not to use unreliable LLMs in critical situations or at least appropriately sandbox them. But it seems even OpenAI can't figure out how to do that. https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/972...
