I’ve seen many engineers dunking on this position but I think it’s reasonable. Vibe coding is essentially replacing “no code” platforms and arguably the recent sale of Airtable is an indication of how that segment is compressing. Those users have no need for source code, it’s simply unnecessary.

    @carnage4life@mas.to There's a substantial difference between the transition from assembly to high-level programming languages and the supposed transition from high-level programming languages to English. Both assembly and high-level programming languages are deterministic and precise. English isn't.

    @carnage4life@mas.to I think the comparison to a compiler is flawed. You trust the compiler because it’s deterministic. An LLM is not. You never know exactly what it’s going to give you, depending on the model used, your prompt, the time of day, whether Mercury is in retrograde, the alignment of the planets, etc.
