The U.S. State department has taken "full responsibility" for presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. Every single one. The map had a watermark indicating it was made using AI from OpenAI.

  • @carnage4life@mas.to Saw that earlier and just laughed. Seeing Côte d'Ivoire jammed into the far southeastern side of the continent and *landlocked* was just brilliant. That, on top of the fact that the countries are just made up shapes. Like Uganda looks like the size of Rwanda or something. I can’t even imagine what the prompt was but it had to be borderline deliberately malicious or insanely stupid or both. @carnage4life@mas.to I mean, yes, okay, it's sort of AI's "fault" (which anthropomorphizes it beyond the bounds of reason). But, for Christ's sake, doesn't anybody even glance at the first draft before throwing it at an international meeting? ?????????

  • @carnage4life@mas.to And not to put too find a point on it, this is the Skynet we get not the one the guys in Silicon Valley think they are making. This is what we got when the US government is run by a post woke, post DEI cabinet of white men largely hired for their identity politics. Russel Vought and his paymasters like the Kochs made this possible. They are all billionaires and this is the world they’re making, One where the government is so idiotic it can’t get the map of Africa, correct

@carnage4life@mas.to let me guess...this is the same AI that we're using for the military? Do we think this is going to be a good idea???
