    #Jizo #Bodhisattva Seated Statue, Kencho-ji, #Japan. The first of #Kamakura&#39;s five temples and the head temple of the Kenchoji school of Rinzai sect. It is a temple with a long history, founded by Doryu Rankei, a Zen monk from the Southern Song Dynasty, and Tokiyori Hojo, the fifth regent of the #Kamakura Shogunate. After being damaged by the Great #Kamakura Earthquake in 1293, the monk, Ichinei Ilzan, directed its reconstruction. #BuddhistArt #Buddhism

The Nio-mon Gate, which is the Bunpozan Romon Gate, was built in 1385 to imitate the Kencho-ji Romon in #Kamakura, and was destroyed by Mitsuhide Akechi&amp;#39;s attack on Tanba from 1575 to 1579 during the Tensho period. #BuddhistArt #Buddhism

This is rare for Fudo Myoo. Yosegi-zukuri, Tamame technique.
