#Jizo #Bodhisattva Seated Statue, Kencho-ji, #Japan. The first of #Kamakura's five temples and the head temple of the Kenchoji school of Rinzai sect. It is a temple with a long history, founded by Doryu Rankei, a Zen monk from the Southern Song Dynasty, and Tokiyori Hojo, the fifth regent of the #Kamakura Shogunate. After being damaged by the Great #Kamakura Earthquake in 1293, the monk, Ichinei Ilzan, directed its reconstruction. #BuddhistArt #Buddhism

Nio statue of the Nio-mon of Matsuoyama Bunpo-ji, Tamba Sasayama, #Japan. Designated as a tangible cultural property of the city. The Nio-mon Gate, which is the Bunpozan Romon Gate, was built in 1385 to imitate the Kencho-ji Romon in #Kamakura, and was destroyed by Mitsuhide Akechi&#39;s attack on Tanba from 1575 to 1579 during the Tensho period. #BuddhistArt #Buddhism

Standing Statue of Fudō Myōō (#FudōMyōō), Ganjoju-in, Shizuoka, #Japan, #Kamakura period. A symmetrical figure with both eyes looking straight ahead and both fangs pointing downwards. This is rare for Fudo Myoo. Yosegi-zukuri, Tamame technique. The statue of Saikaradoji holding a samurai&#39;s treasure stick and the statue of Hikaradoji holding a lotus flower were also created by Unkei, who was in his mid-thirties, in his prime. #BuddhistArt #Buddhism
