  One of the joys of Edinburgh for me is the public transport - you may laugh, as we have no metro, very few city trains and currently only half a tram line - but the buses are (1) frequent and well organised, (2) publicly owned, and (3) free! (If you’re lucky to be the right age). But what really impressed me recently was these stairs on a double decker bus. Normally the bus stairs are a dark dingy hole between decks, but these are so bright and cheery! Kudos to the designer. #3goodthings #bus

  A lovely visit to the park. It’s chicks season! Pictures: Canada geese and tiny Canada goslings; Coot and cootlings; a larger cootling; four grey herons doing a stately dance (*). (* Not really; a lady was throwing food to the herons, who seemed to be warily circling each other while waiting for titbits to come their way)

  This afternoon we went to the beach (at Musselburgh in Scotland) where the tide was waaaaay out, the sun shone, and the beach and harbour seemed to be steaming with evaporating water.

  Lovely walk this morning under a perfect cloudless clear blue sky, and glorious sunshine which wasn’t too hot. Perfect. I spent much of the time admiring the blossom on the trees. #Edinburgh #bloomscrolling

  Really peaceful by the river yesterday evening. Lots of swans (not pictured) - they seem to come in off the sea when the tide is high. Sunny, but chilly, a north wind. But sunny.

  We had a lovely walk in the park this afternoon (*) where we saw this grey heron, standing in the perfect spot to be framed by the tangle of wood in the pond. (*) Why yes, we *do* have nothing better to do all day now than enjoy ourselves! It’s great. I recommend it.
