  I'm investigating my Bally Star Trek's sound board. It lost sound some time ago and I had hoped it's the typical solder cracks in the big Molex KK connector but nope. Looks like I have to do actual head scratching here. I hear a hum that changes depending what's on the displays, which is normal and tells me that at least the amp works and the speaker is connected. This one is going to at least get recapped before it goes back. #pinball #repair

  Another Hello Kitty #soda today, Kuromi. As the previous one I got, this one's made in Sweden under a license. it's grape and blueberry, which is actually a pretty decent combo. Too bad this one has the same problem as the Hello Kitty one: nothing in the taste is real.   So far I've greased my MK4S' and Mini+'s axis rods with a q-tip, which is a bit annoying as there's always possibility of getting some on the belts in the X-axis. So I made this simple tool. It can do both sides of the rod without making a mess. Just put a tiny amount of grease on both sides of this hook, push it against the rod and move sideways, then pull and do the other side. Takes just seconds compared to messing around with a q-tip. I'll probably make a larger version...

  Today we have Chupa chups, but in #soda form. This Korean find tastes pretty much like the lollipop of the same brand. Not a typical soda taste, almost closer to carbonated juice than traditional sodas. A bit weird sensation, but okay. Bonus points for having actual sugar in it and no BS sweeteners.

  Looks like today finally became the day when I got around to get rid of my Snapmaker A350's original print sheet and go with the all steel one as I print mostly PETG and likes with it. This was prompted by a print job I had started yesterday, but I came here to see a disaster. The print head had literally grinded itself into the sheet.   Cracked solder joints are one big annoyance in pinball. Thanks to the game's mechanical nature, there's a lot of vibrations coming from various mechanisms firing non-stop as the game is played. The outcome is often weird issues. On lamp boards these are easy to diagnose, just wiggle the connector and if the lamps mysteriously return, take the board for a closer look.   This is Hello Kitty Strawberry Vanilla #soda. One might expect this to come from Japan, but this specific one was made in Sweden under a license. Many years I invented a decent drink on cruise ships: take some strawberry slush, put some vanilla flavored vodka in it and top it up with Sprite. This is very close to that, sans the alcohol.   I ditched the rest 3rd gen Ubiquiti cameras from my arcade installation, which left me with these G3 Flexes. This means my Snapmaker got an upgrade and MK4S finally got its own camera.   Had a huge playfield clean+wax, burn lamp replacement and minor repair session today. Here's about 6 hours of footage in one minute. No major issues were found, just run of the mill loose wires, cold solders in connectors and bad lamp sockets. #pinball #arcade #repair #timelapse

  Back to #finland with today's #soda weirdness. This is Pommac, one of the sodas I definitely make foreign visitors taste when they first come to Finland. It has berries and fruits in it, what exactly is a mystery. But so is the taste. It's very often offered as a non-alcoholic alternative to bubbly drinks. It's been around since 50s in Finland, originally introduced in Sweden in the 20s, although the original recipe was by a Finnish-Swede.

  @vga256@mastodon.tomodori.net And that's why I have a strong preference on vans; you can load a pin onto one yourself without working too hard and the floor is a lot lower than a pickup's bed. In general vans are a lot more common around here. I was surprised to see that many pickups in the US, especially with people driving around with perishable stuff in the back.

  While today's #repair project isn't pinball itself, it sure is related to it in my use. My parents bought this trailer in 1984 when they were building their house. After they finished they changed their car and the new one didn't come with a tow hitch. So the trailer was left at the back of their garden, where it stayed until early 2000s, when I had gotten myself mixed in the pinball hobby.   @jellycrystals@universeodon.com That seems to be the case in every location where pins are not a thing in the local culture. They're imported for the tourists but no one has a clue that they need a lot of love to keep working. Thus you'll see those poor completely beaten up games where nothing works.

  NBA Fastbreak's right orbit diverter came off. The e-clip that holds it had gotten loose. Now, everyone said I'd have to pull the right ramp which is quite a chore on this thing. I however noticed that with the little metal ramp thing from the shooter lane removed, I could access the spot quite easily. Turned an hour's job into 10 minute job.   Another Fanta from China, this one is for HK area I think, as the label is in western font but the backside is in both, English and Chinese. First of all, it sure looks pretty, light pink. It smells of grapefruit mainly, but the taste is a weird combination of both, it starts with a very strong passion fruit and then there's grapefruit too.   Here's AR's 新鮮 ブルーベリー or literally translated Fresh Blueberry. Despite the strong Japan-vibe, it's actually European product. It's also not just blueberry, but also blackcurrant, which I had guessed before even looking at the list of ingredients.   Trouble in the Prusa paradise. I started my first ASA print and maybe 10 minutes in I get a fan error message. I copied this custom ASA profile from MK4S where it has worked fine for couple of spools. The error persisted and I visually inspected the fan, it spins just fine. So what gives? Looking at the telemetry the fan is supposed to run at 200-300rpm at the 12% setting. Am I hitting some kind of a lower threshold?
