Question for anyone who knows languages and/or judeo-christian history: Was Yhwh/Abba/God/The Father always gendered?

Have you ever heard a priest or pastor say something like "they even call their celebration PRIDE and that's one of the seven deadly sins!" I have. Language was used to categorically dismiss queerness as something unholy. But I've learned that when queer people talk about pride, it is not the same thing as the theologian means. Queer pride is the counterpoint to - and the antidote for - shame.
