Question for anyone who knows languages and/or judeo-christian history: Was Yhwh/Abba/God/The Father always gendered?

  • @annyr@fidelis.social I seem to remember hearing that Elohim was not only plural, but a possibly very old word that may have originally been the irregular feminine plural like nashim “women”, even though -im is the regular masculine plural in Hebrew. The archeology shows that goddess worship was very common in that region for tens of thousands of years of prehistory. Something the patriarchal monotheists did their best to supplant and wipe records of. I would make sense that their earliest words for “god” originated in prehistory but the semantics were lost.
