Have you noticed, in any story, they tend to mull over the part where a character tells someone that their loved one has died? I think that's about the hardest thing that a person ever has to do. It's so hard that they like to skip it over and diminish it, even for characters we're supposed to admire for their ability to do difficult things. I mean would you like to be the one who has to tell someone their daughter is dead? This is a weakness of fiction writers I mean t...

Not to steal a joke from twitter, but why "don't" 50 Cent and Nickelback do a show together? Aside from maybe musical and personal differences. People would come and see it just for the joke. #45CentsTour

If none of the legions of people around the town center who try to rope people into lengthy conversations that always turn out to be how much money I can give them per month can be bothered to carry signs to announce their intentions, maybe I should start wearing a sign that says "I'm on disability and make $900 a month." I could get a t-shirt with that on it. If I felt I could afford a custom t-shirt.

Today I learned there is such an idea as "The independent constitutional monarchy of Scotland." Like I'm 100% for Britain's devolved states to gain independence but. Sort of assumed founding a country in the Year of our Lord 2026 it would be a republic. Have a guess, Mastodon: Who do you think would be raised as monarch of Scotland? Spoiler, it's not Prince William.

Michaela Coel is a skillful and hard working actor, we have to be clear about that. But she's also so beautiful I can't stand it. Just have to get that off my chest.

https://metro.co.uk/2026/05/13/hantavirus-brit-found-italian-bar-rather-quarantining-28358624/ I read in the news not three hours ago, "Hantavirus extremely unlikely to reach Europe." Then this fucking Englishman in Italy escapes quarantine to go to a bar and ignores everything we've learned about pandemics in this harsh decade and pretty much literally goes "Hold my beer." Okay I don't have any hot takes, I'm just angry. Guy this fucki...

I just ordered a bunch of books for 225 dollars. It was so much more brave than buying a bed for $1600. Please tell me I'm brave. Hashtag spending grandma's inheritance responsibly

I say this often, but I want you all to know, and remember. All the atoms of your body are made of stars and mud and magic. This is not a metaphor. The stuff you are made of comes from exploding stars, and you are this brightness, and it also comes from simple dirt, and you are this humbleness. The stuff you are made of was made by something that we do not understand, an unimaginable, hotter, younger universe before the Big Bang, and you are this mystery.

In good news, it seems the research on microplastics has been extremely compromised by scientists using plastic gloves. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/03/260329222938.htm https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2026/ay/d5ay01801c https://news.umich.edu/nitrile-and-latex-gloves-may-cause-overestimation-of-microplastics-u-m-study-reveals/

Idea: The Bridge Builders, a TV show for our age. We have three elderly women - a former city councilor, known for her diplomacy, a dentist, known for her horrifying anatomy drawings, and a civil engineer, who gather around a fourth in her retirement home to play Bridge.

Funny story, I heard about some silly scalpers getting baited into buying large amounts of Yugioh cards that will only ever lose value and decided to see how my 25 year investment in a promotional Blue-Eyes White Dragon is doing. Turns out it's an extremely rare card they only printed for Swedish Shonen Jump and it's selling on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. The moral of the story is, investing in collectibles at zero cost and zero storage cost just possibly might pay off over ti...
