Under a beech tree, with one of my favourite teas, and a nice frangipane summer tartelette, I managed to read on paper - few sentences at a time with frequent breaks. It was lovely. As much as I love audiobooks, I so desperately want to enjoy George Eliot's prose on paper. I love to linger in her words, dwell in her sentences, and delight in her wit. I've not yet found this ability with audiobooks (or maybe I'm just stubborn and need to work on that). In any case, it w...

Finally, after years of debating, I did it. I got myself an Instax camera. Zero regrets. #Instax #Photography

I hit a bit of a wall with the shawl. I lost enthusiasm for it but kept working on it nonetheless. I felt frustrated at the ball of wool seemingly staying the same even though it's getting smaller. I kept at it, a few stitches at a time with a video or auidobook to distract me. I didn't want to push but I also didn't want to stop as the due date is fast approaching. Thankfully this was a short phase and I am now very excited to be working on the shawl again. #Crochet

This was me in 2023. Pain was settling in. My mind was blurring. I cycled everywhere because this is who I was (who I am), a modern centaur of sorts, half human, half bicycle. I went to the GP. And again. And again. I cannot tell you how often but I can tell you I now fear going to the GP from all the lack of care (not medical though that was a thing, but just human care) I received. 1/2 #MEAwarenessDay #MECFS #LongCovid

My niece's shawl is not complete but it's looking and feeling like a shawl now, and I'm ridiculously proud of it. It's not complicated but it's my first project that is not a quick and easy thing done in a few days. I love it so much. And now off Mastodon I go. I have 16 more rows waiting for me (obviously these will not be completed tonight. I like sleep too much >.<). #Crochet

On paper, this was symmetrical. Then I got involved and well... me and numbers have never been the best of friends >.< I like it regardless. It's very me in its wonkiness and I've had fun working on it all along (not quite finished yet but we're getting there). #Crochet

The quiet of momentous events. Over the course of a week, with no fanfare or thought, I felt compelled to dig out my camera from deep storage. I charged it and loaded a fresh SD card. Today I walked out of the house after work and photographed. My hands wrapped around the camera easily, my fingers danced with the buttons and wheels as if I'd used it yesterday and not months ago. It was effortless. Here's a blackbird in flight, from one roof to the other to sing a little highe...

I'm doing some wool learning after a somewhat successful and somewhat failed attempt at knitting. I keep hearing casting on is hard but that was super easy. The knitting part... well that's another story. I also think the book I'm learning from is missing some info because 'just carry on until you get the hang of it' is not a good instruction. I have questions. Hopefully my brother will have answers. #Wool #Knitting @fiberarts

I'm knitting! Very badly and at times I'm doing weird things to the stitches but I moved past row one. My brother had answers to my questions. He taught me a different way to cast on which I found harder but less confusing when it came to working the last stitch of a row. After two hours of video tuition and a lot of laughing so hard I cried, I have achieved the below picture =D I am very proud of this little mess. Now to lounge on the sofa in front of the TV for a while. #Kni...

I got emboldened by my knitting success and decided to tackle my niece's crochet shawl. It starts with a magic circle and that has always defeated me. Today it felt easy. I must have levelled up my crochet skills somewhere along the way. Anyway, enough fibre shenanigans for the day. It's been a lot and I don't want to trigger PEM. So now it's off to vegetate in front of the TV again. #Crochet @fiberarts

Practice. I love how a random person immediately came to check what I was doing and to share memories of their mother making them jumpers back in their youth. Side note: do not be deceived by the sun, the wind was cold. #Knitting @fiberarts
